Medicare Rebates for Clinical Psychology Services in Australia
Under the Better Access Initiative, Australians with a valid referral from a GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician can receive Medicare rebates for psychology sessions. With a registered Clinical Psychologist, the current rebate amount is $141.85.
Eligible individuals can claim rebates for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. Your GP will assess your needs and provide a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), which allows you to access these rebates. The rebate amount significantly reduces out-of-pocket costs, making professional mental health support more affordable.
